Hey. This has nothing to do with frogs (helpful as they may be..), but was just reading your blog about VN names, so you might be able to help me with something..? The female name Cai seems to be disliked - do you know why? It's in western baby name books, but not popular with Vietnamese people I have spoken to, and I still cant really grasp why.

Hi!It's hard to tell since a Vietnamese word can have different meanings according to its tones (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vietnamese_language). I am guessing 2 Vietnamese meanings for «Cai»: the first being «Female» and the second being «Quarrel». Cai-female is used for female animals, so you can see how it's not flattering. As to Cai-quarrel, such a name would be inauspicious.
Is Cai short for Caitlin or something?
